Introduction

There are a number of places within the setup of PYXI where you can specify an icon. In fact, icon is also a Field Type so you can create your own Fields to hold an icon.

Record Icons

Every record, when listed in PYXI, has an icon displayed against it. These are normally the same icon for every record of a Record Type – but you can control the icon on each record by specifying an IconFieldName on the Record Type – see worked example at Categories.

Icons are also associated with Steps, HomePage Items, Views and Pages.

Icons in Templates

You can include an Icon anywhere in a Template, e.g. in a Page used as a report or dashboard. Simply use the displayIcon on its own, or any of the many display functions that take iconName as one of their parameters.

Available Icons

Icons are simply specified by name. The full list of icons available is shown below. When editing icon fields in the application, you can search for icons by (partial) name and see how the icons look – but if you are setting everything up by Blueprint, then you’ll need to look below to find the ones that you want.
